AMEC is a major Engineering and Construction Company involved in Oil and Gas Projects in Azerbaijan is looking for Structural Designer (National).

The successful candidate should have:

• Good understanding of structural design, combined with an ability to fit design to deliverable.
• Must understand inter-discipline relationships.
• Computer literacy would be an advantage. 
• Minimum relevant HND/HNC or equivalent and preferably membership of relevant professional institute.
• Minimum of 7 years experience in an engineering and /or petro-chemical environment
• Must be fully conversant with BS EN ISO 9001:1994 and its application to design, procurement and construction activities, dependant on project workscope.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following activities:

• Be aware of all technical standards, procedures and specifications.
• Produce engineering designs and sketches.
• Establish all multi-discipline data required to carry out structural design.
•  Perform 3D structural computer analyses.
• Check drawings produced from sketches.
• Be aware of electronic design methods, and implement them wherever appropriate.
• Adopt a fit-for-purpose approach and adapt design methodology to suit the required end product.
• Review clients Scope of Work for completeness and clarity of  intent. Liaise with client groups on points requiring clarification.
• Co-ordinate preparation of Project Control Estimates, review and approve same.
• Prepare budget requests and obtain approvals for expenditure.
• Issue instructions to proceed with the work to all relevant project personnel.
• Instigate and conduct “kick-off’ meetings.
• Co-ordinate engineering design work to ensure design intent is achieved.
• Liaise with Project Manager / Engineering Manager to agree schedule for issue of engineering deliverables.
• Investigate Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment studies and design reviews at appropriate stage.
• Ensure Health & Safety Responsibilities (ref. SHEQ Responsibilities attached) are adhered to and understood
