Position: Banksman

Job Type Full-time
Job Location: Azerbaijan/Baku

Responsibilities

- Contribute to risk assessments and lift planning
- Be easily identifiable as the Banksman
- Ensure equipment and loads are inspected before use
- Check manifests, load weights and for potential dropped objects
- Ensure the correct lifting accessories have been selected and are securely attached
- Ensure loads are correctly connected/disconnected
- Remain in communication with relevant personnel
- Deliver clear and correct communication to the Crane operator
- Ensure the load is free to lift
- Control the lift area
- Maintain a safe position
- Not touch the load while tension is applied to the rigging
- Direct personnel to ensure they remain in a safe position
- Ensure tag lines/handling tools are used correctly
- Ensure equipment is de-rigged, inspected and stored correctly

As a part of the lift team, Banksmen will have to follow instructions from:

- The PIC; for example a Deck Foreman / C Supv / LCP / CP / AP, who has direct control of the lifting operation and the lift team
- A Competent Person; for example a LCP / CP / AP, who is responsible for producing / implementing the Safe System of Work
- Supervisors’ for example a Lifting Supervisor, who has overall responsibility for the lifting operations

Requirements

- Banksman/slinger and rigging/lifting certification to BS EN 7121 standard
- FHN certification Grade 5 or 6
- Minimum 3 years’ experience on same role
