Mechanical Estimator
Responsibilities:
• Develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy and deploy this throughout the estimating process;
• Full material take-off from Mechanical bid drawings;
• Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scopes of work;
• Ensure that the information required to begin the estimating process is accurate and available;
• To monitor and control the day-to-day finance of all estimated contracts, up to and including production of final accounts;
• Structure a fair and comprehensive final sub bid process by incorporating all information from previous budgets, by educating all subs;
• Complete evaluation of mechanical bid documents and specifications;
• Preparing and completing bid BOQ’s;
• Present information and proposals effectively to clients based on their needs and preferences;
• To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate;
• To order and ensure that materials, equipment and plant detailed in specifications and drawings for construction or improvement work are ordered in accordance with County tendering procedures;
• Timely and completely perform tasks to meet organizational deadlines;
• Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution;
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a consulting firm;
• History of working with projects such as Commercial, Hospitality and Retail;
• Experience in bid / tenders preparation.
