WorleyParsons has been delivering engineering and project management services to the global hydrocarbons industry for over sixty years. Our full-scope global project services span the entire asset lifecycle from the initial conceptual phase of major Greenfield developments to ongoing asset services and brownfield modifications projects.

WorleyParsons has been awarded a five year contract for Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management services for BP-operated assets in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Civil / Structural Designer to join our Baku office.

Purpose:

• The Senior Civil / Structural Designer shall have the ability to layout Civil infrastructure and Structural systems on Oil and Gas projects and ensure the layouts are in accordance with BP engineering specifications, and engineering requirements, using 3D based programs and experience.  The Senior Civil / Structural Designer shall have adequate experience to adopt a practical approach to Civil / Structural layout problems and be familiar with the requirements/interactions of other engineering disciplines.

KEY Accountabilities Of Position:

• Responsible for safe working practices both personally and for the Civil / Structural designers in the team, using the WorleyParsons OneWay framework.
• Responsible for personal safety and safe working practices.  Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
• Ensure the design and drafting team understands and applies the WorleyParsons quality management system.
• Develop positive client and project relationships.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work autonomously.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Job Specific:
• Proficient in the use of 3D packages; PDMS, SPR or PDS.
• Has previous experience with BP Engineering Specifications.
• Has green and brown field experience with oil refinery and gas processing with minimal supervision.
• Has experience of working in a multi-cultural work share environments.
• Past experience in Conceptual, FEED and Detailed Design projects.
• Field experience and the practicalities of working in live refineries and gas plants.
• Has experience in conducting field investigation trips to live operating oil refinery and gas plants.
• Experience in carrying out 3D design reviews with the client and multi discipline design teams.
• Has experience with interpreting laser scan data and utilising to tie-in new design requirements.
• Extraction, production and checking of engineering drawings.
• Experience in checking drawings and ensuring engineering requirements are incorporated.

• Experience in discipline specific databases and efficient use of word processing and spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
• Has 3D modelling experience with modelling dummy steel at conceptual stage.
• Experience in quality control of 3D design models and the importance of dimensional accuracy.

Standard Competencies
• Can progress schedule by tracking drawing progress through multiple gates.
• Can take directions from the Lead Civil/Structural Engineer and communicate to Civil/Structural designers.
• Understanding of Civil and Structural construction techniques.
• Is a self-starter, problem solver and can independently generate initiative and practical solutions to layout problems.
• Mentoring and supervision of trainee and junior designers.
• Working knowledge and ability to interpret and apply relevant International and local Codes and Standards and, client standards and specifications.
• Ability to determine the advantages and disadvantages and relative costs of alternative design concepts and establish preferred concepts. Demonstrating continual improvement in the execution of work.
• Understanding of design deliverables required for Conceptual, FEED and Detailed Design, establishing appropriate level of detail and checking required for each phase.
• Ability to learn and apply new software.
• Proven leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills, with a willingness to work as part of a team.
• Demonstrated priority and deadline management for self and team.
• Provide expert advice and support to the Engineering Manager.
• Initiate and participate in short-range and/or long-range planning and, consistently complete work within budgeted hours.
• Competently review and comment on vendor data for a wide range of equipment and packages and, demonstrate the ability to plan and implement design activities to allow timely availability of and incorporation of vendor information into the design.

Experience:

Required:
• Extensive technical and practical experience in process design and administration.
• 15+ years experience in CAD and/or graphic design.

Guide:
• Approximately 15 years with experience with CAD or graphics design, drafting and/or graphic tools (AutoCAD / Microstation).

Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:
• A recognised diploma in the relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.

Preferred:
• Qualifications in the relevant discipline with qualifications or equivalent experience, desirable with AutoCAD / Microstation.
