We are currently looking for experienced professionals for the following role:
Lead Safety and Risk Engineer
Purpose:
The Lead Safety / Risk Engineer shall have the ability to carry out engineering studies and risk analysis as well as the design of process safety systems. This includes systems and equipment such as Fire Protection/ Loss prevention systems. The lead Safety / Risk engineer will ensure the design is in accordance with the applicable international codes of practice and BP engineering specifications.
Key Accountabilities:
• Experienced in managing a team of Engineers and Designers.
• Experience in working with large multinational oil and gas companies
• Coordination and implementation of engineering activities.
• Responsible for safe working practices both personally and for the designers in the team, using the WorleyParsons OneWay framework.
• Responsible for personal safety and safe working practices. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
• Develop positive client and project relationships.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work autonomously.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring graduates and inexperienced engineers and designers.
• Provide input to proposals (man-hour estimates and execution strategies) and assistance with business development and client relationship management including liaison with client discipline representatives to establish technical direction where not provided by codes and standards.
• Manage Value Improvement Processes including Design to Capacity, Value Engineering and Risk Workshops. Perform process optimisation studies and technology selection in pre-FEED including facilitating Value Engineering workshops.
• Develop and update Engineering Standards as well as Technical specifications.
• Capable of performing process selection, concept and FEED through to Detailed Design and EPC (including commissioning and initial start-up procedures and operating manuals) for major greenfield developments and associated brownfield integrations, upgrades and troubleshooting/debottlenecking.
Essential Skills / Competencies Required:
• Coordination and implementation of Technical Safety and Risk engineering activities.
• Knowledge and experience of Industry/Oil and Gas Codes and Standards specifically familiar with International Engineering standards.
• Expertise with developing Technical Safety plans and philosophies.
• Experience in Technical Safety and Risk studies.
• Expertise with developing specifications, such as active and passive fire protection.
• Conducting Quantitative Risk Assessments and Safety studies in the Oil & Gas and Energy industry, , specifically experience with carrying out assessments against BP Major Accident Risk (MAR) guidelines.
• Experience in FEED, detailed design and construction support for onshore and offshore facilities.
• Experience in the following analyses;
o consequence analysis,
o qualitative and quantitative risk assessment,
o firewater hydraulic modelling,
o development of firewater systems,
o Reliability and Availability modelling (RAM).
• Experience and Certification in DNV PHAST and PHAST Risk/Safety consequence and risk modelling software package, including DNV SOQRATES.
• Experience in Safety and Risk software such as BP CIRRUS, PIPENET™, RAMP, HAZOP Manager.
• Experience in QRA/fire, explosion and layout hazard assessments.
• Knowledge and experience in risk analyses and explosion modelling.
• Ability to perform gas dispersion modelling.
• Ability to perform flare radiation modelling.
• Ability to perform hazard studies such as:
o Fire Risk Analysis,
o Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessment,
o Explosion Risk Analysis,
o Cryogenic Risk Analysis,
o Smoke and Gas Dispersion Analysis,
o Escape, TR, Evacuation & Rescue Analysis,
o Exhaust Gas Dispersion Study,
o Emergency System Survivability Analysis.
• Be fully conversant with HAZOP / SIL / Design Review / 3D Model Reviews.
• Experience in Factory acceptance testing for loss preventions and fire and gas systems.
• Experience in design, construction requirements of onshore facilities.
• Experience in preparing Material Requisitions.
• Experience in design and engineering to minimize field installation and commissioning activities.
• Capable of assessing conceptual solutions to engineering problems and improvements within the operations and safety constraints.
• Field experience in installation and construction activities to reduce installation time and reduce risks for safety during execution.
• Review and checking of the technical content of 3rd party equipment and packages.
• Technical support and input to the package engineer and procurement team with regards to any packages.
• Reviews of bid documents from EPC Contractors and preparation of evaluation reports.
• Familiar with related codes and have a good working knowledge of the latest design codes and standards used in the industry.
• Substantial experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Experienced in managing a team of engineers and designers.
• Experience of working in a multicultural, multi-disciplined, multi-site work share environment.
• Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate with other discipline lead engineers.
• Experience in working with large multinational oil and gas companies.
• Computer skills in relevant packages including databases, spreadsheets and word processing packages.
• Well developed report writing and public speaking skills
• Able to make difficult decisions and lead and manage others in changing business conditions.
• Excellent people management skills such as leadership, team, interpersonal, coaching, mentoring and supervisory skills. Must be able to build, motivate, develop and manage an effective team.
• Excellent management skills including the ability to plan, set goals; and manage time, priorities, resources, accountabilities, schedules and cost.

• Approximately 15 years, with a minimum of 5 years experience in either a senior engineering position in the hydrocarbons sectors and at least 10 years in an engineering role.
