Title: Port Captain

Reports to: Operations manager

Based at: Caspian Marine Services limited Baku office

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

 Ensuring compliance where appropriate with the Company’s Policies and Procedures in accordance with the requirements of Quality Standard ISO 9001:2008, Occupational Health & Safety Standard OHSAS 18001:2007, the ISM Code 2010 and Environmental Standard ISO 14001:2004.
 Ensuring that on a day-to-day basis that all vessels within the region operate in a healthy/safe and environmentally friendly manner and effectively comply with all relevant International, Flag State and Port State requirements.
 Ensuring that the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) Manual for Vessels is implemented and adhered to within the region, including all vessels and Offices and that the importance of adhering to quality/healthy/safe/environmental working practices is understood and practiced by all Employees.
 Ensuring that all quality/health & safety/environmental policies and strategies are in accordance with the overall strategy of the Company.
 Supervising all vessel operations including repair and maintenance work, ensuring that costs are contained within budget.
 Inspecting all vessels at regular intervals and ensuring that the operational status is maintained, including checks to ensure that planned maintenance procedures are being carried out and accurate records are kept.
 Ensuring that the planned maintenance schedules for the vessels are still appropriate and new schedules are drawn up as appropriate.
 Providing Masters and Chief Engineers with technical advice on procedures to affect repairs or diagnose defects and provide general operational assistance as may be required for effective operation of the vessel.
 Assisting Masters and Chief Engineers in the preparation of drydock specifications.
 In the case of major, producing detailed reports of the situation and specification of repairs required for analysis by the Operations Manager.
 Providing technical support to the Technical Manager and the QA/QC & HSE Manager as appropriate.
 Monitoring Critical Equipment Failure Reports.
